About the Event
Parkinsonism is an umbrella term describing a group of neurological conditions that exhibit symptoms similar to Parkinsonʼs Disease but have various causes, including medication side effects, head trauma, metabolic diseases, toxins, or other neurological disorders. Parkinsonʼs Disease is just one ofthe degenerative conditions under this Umbrella.
Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorderthat primarily affects movement, causing symptoms like tremors, slow movements, and stiffness, due to the loss of dopamineproducing neurons in the brain. It is primarily caused by the death or dysfunction of brain cells that produce dopamine, aneurotransmitter crucial for movement control, though the exact cause is unknown, with both genetic and environmental factorslikely playing a role.
